Dress
design
If
your having difficulties finding the dress of your dreams or you have in
mind
a
dress but you just cannot find it, or you like a certain neckline
on one dress, the sleeves on another then consider taking your
ideas, to a dress designer. A Designer can offer you a variety of
ways to have that designer dress at affordable prices.
Hemming
If
your dress requires hemming and you want to protect the lace edging,
consult with
your
seamstress on the options opened. Many hemlines can be raised by
lifting the waistline. Also if your dress does not bustle the
train so that it easy for you to move around discuss with your
seamstress about ways of making it easier for you.
Reserving
alterations services
As
soon as you have selected your gown, be sure to make an appointment to
reserve
the
services of your seamstress. Many bridal specialists are booked in
advance.
Be
prepared to pay for alterations and include this in your budget.
Making
Bridesmaid dresses
If
you are having your dresses made it is wise to buy the fabric all at
once as fabric comes in
different dye lots and can be difficult to match. Ask your
seamstress if she will "shop" with you in making the selection
of fabric. It is wise to have the same seamstress make all the
dresses to keep the dresses similar.
Length
of bridesmaid dresses
When
hemming the dresses, first determine the length then measure up from the
floor. Be sure that your bridesmaids are wearing the shoes that
she will be wearing on the wedding day. This way, the hemlines
will align in the photographs even though your bridesmaids are at
different heights.
