Flower of the Month!
Alstroemeria

Alstroemeria is an attractive and an easy flower to take care of, that often provides two weeks of color in the home. It is a cheerful flower, which is guaranteed to please!

Green now, color later
Experienced buyers know that Alstroemeria flowers with green or faintly colored buds are preparing to show their greatest treasure: their big, colorful flowers. Buds that are closed and showing little color are normally a sign that the flowers are freshly cut and have recently been supplied to the shop.

Although Alstroemeria buds are small, the flowers are colorful and large. In other words: green now, colorful later.

Inspiration
Alstroemeria is an ideal solo flower for fabulous arrangements. A bouquet like this will last much longer than a mixed bouquet; Howerver Alstroemeria is also a welcome addition to any mixed bouquet.

If you would like to show something novel, why not mix one or more varieties of Alstroemeria with just a little green foliage.

The flower arrangement on the left was created 1 week 2 days prior to the picture being taken.
The flowers on the lower half of the arrangements are red carnations. (another long lasting flower)

Care in the home
Alstroemeria is an easy-care, tough flower that will give you long lasting enjoyment. The longevity of the flowers can be improved by using the following tips:
• Leave the flowers wrapped in the floral sleeve and place them upright in a bucket of water, allowing them to hydrate properly.
• Cut the stems and an angle and remove any leaves that are below the water line
• Put the flowers into a clean vase of fresh water and ensure no leaves are underwater
• Adding a sachet of cut flower food to the water will extend vase life and ensure even the tiny buds open
• Remove any dead flowers and replace the water occasionally
